Information about the "live" GPS Report

  1. The map is automatically generated by a computer (no human intervention); it is an experimental, volunteer-led project; it is a work in progress: expect technical glitches.
  2. The objective is to provide live or near live grooming information derived from GPS transmitters installed in trail grooming machines. Locations are sent to a server via the cellular network. GPS tracking devices have been installed on the three Pisten Bullys only (the three snowmobiles and two Rhino grooming machines are not GPS tracked). The map shows their movement, which can include rolling for skating, track-setting for classic, snow farming, in-transit movements, etc.
  3. A big thank you to the donors (Trail Sports, TRAFx Research, BlacklineGPS), volunteers and Nordic Centre staff who have made this project possible; it is the first of its kind in North America.
